Planning Commission Recommends Against Retail/Office/Townhome Project On Shallowford Across From Hamilton YMCA

  • Monday, October 12, 2020

The Planning Commission on Monday recommended denial for rezoning for a $35 million retail/office/townhome project on Shallowford Road across from Hamilton YMCA.

The final word on the project by developer Guy Cherwonuk will be the City Council.

The project on 13 acres would include a large section of retail, along with some office and 88 townhomes.

The planning staff had recommended denial, saying it would extend the mall commercial area across Gunbarrel. That area has been pinpointed for residential.

City Councilman Darrin Ledford expressed concerns about the validity of adding more retail when other stores are closing.
