Rufus Wesley Wilson, 88, passed away on Wednesday, October 14, 2020, in a local health care facility. 

He was born on Dec. 24, 1931, in Chattanooga to the late Joseph and Annie Wilson.

Mr. Wilson was a United States Air Force veteran. 

 

He was the owner/operator of Branch Avenue Exxon and Sandy Hill Farms Produce Stand.   

 

His wife, Phyllis Wilson preceded him in death. 

 

Survivors include his children, Tina (Dale) Schnoor of LaPlata, Md., Michael Wilson of Merritt Island, Fl., and John Wilson of Seneca Falls, N.Y.; sister, Wanda Clark of Chattanooga; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.  

 

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, Oct. 20, from 11 a.m.–1 p.m. at the funeral home. A memorial service will follow at 1 p.m. in the Valley View Chapel.  

 

Due to COVID-19, all guidelines of social distancing set in place by the CDC must be followed. According to the Hamilton County mandate, face coverings are required for anyone attending services or visitation.  

 

Arrangements are by the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory & Florist, 7414 Old Lee Highway, Chattanooga, TN 37421.
