Finding Peace For Our Nation

  • Sunday, October 18, 2020

In about 865 B.C., King Jehoshaphat brought peace and prosperity to his nation. First, he set himself to seek God with all his heart. Next, he sent his princes and with them Levites and priests to go throughout all the cities of Judah and teach the people the law of God again.

The Bible then records, “And the fear of the Lord fell upon all the kingdoms of the lands…so that they made no war against Jehoshaphat.” They had peace.

And then God records: that he had “much business in the cities of Judah.” They had prosperity. (II Chronicles 17:1-13)

The great need of our nation is the same today. Today, not even one fourth of one percent of adults and teens can name all 10 of the Ten Commandments. And among those who regularly attend church, it is only one percent.

Is there a logic to what is going on in our country? I think so. God warns in Hosea 4:6 “…seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.” It is the children of this nation who are so deceived that they are running the streets of our cities burning, looting and killing to achieve what? Justice? Order? Peace?

Only God can solve our national problems and give us peace. But, in order for that to happen, we, as parents, must begin to follow God’s instructions about His laws: “And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.” –Deuteronomy 6:7
