Master Electrician Was Artist, Musician, And Photographer

Bernell Richard Jackson, 64, of Chattanooga, passed away on Thursday, November 19, 2020.  

He attended Peabody Demonstration School and graduated from Father Ryan High School in Nashville, Tennessee.  Bernell completed the coursework Certified Electrician and became a skilled master electrician. He was a member of New Monumental Baptist Church, where he was an usher and attended Sunday school.  He was on the Resident Advisory Board at Dogwood Manor, provided computer skills training to young boys, and was a resident surveyor for the Chattanooga Housing Authority.  Bernell was an artist, having studied at the Art Institute of Colorado, a musician, and a photographer. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. William Nichols Jackson, Sr. and Dorwatha Watkins Jackson, and brother, William Nichols Jackson, Jr. (Nicky). 

Survivors include his son, Aaron Bernell Jackson (Shaherah); daughter, Amber Nicole Jackson; grandson, Julius Turnipseed IV; brother, Gerald Watkins Jackson, Sr. (Myra Lynn); first cousins, Hobart Jackson, Jr. (Shakura); Dale Jackson Bonds (Jim); Marlene Jackson Boddy (Bob); first cousin one level removed, Reginald Neal and Brenda Colbert; nephews and nieces, Gerald Watkins Jackson, Jr. (Rachel): Lisa Jackson-Holmes; Louis Nichols Jackson; other relatives and friends, Arinetta and Jarrett Utley Nashville, TN; Priscilla Wallace (James Arthur); McKinley Sims, (Lillie); a host of other friends. 

Bernell will lie in state on Saturday, Nov. 28, at 10:30 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. 

A family service will follow at 3 p.m. in the chapel with Dr. R. Gregory Odom as the eulogist.
