A Time To Celebrate But Not To Gloat - And Response (12)

  • Saturday, November 7, 2020
Joseph Biden and Kamala Harris are the next President and Vice President of the United States. It is a time to celebrate but not to gloat.

We must work to heal the divisions of this nation. Let us enjoy this moment then let us get back to work to find common ground with all Americans to make this a better land and a better democracy.

Rodney Strong
Chair
Hamilton County Democratic Party

Question for you Mr.

Strong.  Why is it now time to unite and remove division from America when all you Democrats pushed division and attacked the President of the United States for four years, rioted and burned cities in 2016 after your loss.  I don't think so.

Michael G. Mansfield

"Time to unite the country"  Are you serious!  That's like the thief that steals my money, and then asks me for change for a twenty.  Mr. Strong, let me educate you on your party's actions and opinions during this sad chapter in American politics, and how little your side contributed to your new found interest in "unity and respect" for over 70 million Americans, and our duly elected President that you and your Democratic friends held in such contempt for over the past four years.

Forty-three million dollars spent over three years on a phony contrived "Russia collusion" attempt to take out our duly elected President, and the countless, baseless smears of decent men like Bret Kavanaugh, or the entrapment and attempt to destroy the life of a highly decorated patriot like General Flynn, simply because he was a President Trump supporter (and that attempt is still outgoing).  I will save time by not going into detail about the other honorable men that your party tried to destroy with the help of corrupt friends in the FBI, and Justice Department like Jim Comey, and other proven liars like Brennan, Strock and others.  But lets talk about current events that seem to stain our democratic process meant to insure representative government for all the people, even those we disagree with.

A district in Michigan (heavily Republican) caught a supposed software "glitch" that switched over 6,000 Trump votes to Biden.  That same software program is used in another 47 Michigan counties that have yet to be examined. MMMM?

Late Wednesday night, President Trump was shown to be ahead by a significant amount over Biden in Michigan. Then "miraculously" in the middle of the night, a vote dump of over 200,000 votes came in for Biden, and not one vote among them for Trump.  Strange? No, mathematically  impossible. How about Milwaukee that was to report at 1 a.m., then delayed the count first to 2 p.m., then again to 3 a.m.  Then hallelujah! Biden suddenly overcame a 4.1 percent Trump lead with another vote dump. Arizona is still in doubt, yet even FOX called this state for Biden way too early.  Oh, I almost forgot good old corrupt Pittsburg, Pa., where they initially ignored a court order to allow Republican vote observers close enough to view the ballots, only later to move the barriers closer to 6 feet, while moving the counting machines further away behind this line.

Now, Mr. Strong, lets get to your new found desire to "get along" with Republicans.  Let me remind you that Biden called Trump supporters "chumps", "ugly folks", "virulent people", "dregs of society", and more. In Iowa, Biden called an elderly man a "damn liar, fat, and too old to vote for him".  At a fundraiser with wealthy donors during the campaign, Biden laughed and said "he had no plans to reach out to Trump voters, and condescendingly described them as "deplorable racist xenophobes".

Now, what were you saying about the 70 million Americans that your party disparaged, that suddenly you very hypocritically suggest should just "forgive and forget" you and your party that appear to have soiled our election process before the whole world.

This election is not over, and cannot be decided by a biased President Trump hating press that has spent every waking minute over the past four years trying to overthrow our very successful President.  Respect and harmony are earned, Mr. Strong, and cannot be solicited by those that have spent the last four trying to overthrow the 2016 Presidential election.  Especially by those that disrespect our proud country of free men and women that only want to see a fair election for both sides.

They say you are only as good as your last picture.  So far, Mr. Strong, your picture is not so good, and unworthy of my hand of friendship.

Current events are a reminder that elected officials do not come with an extended warranty.

I agree with Mr. Reesor and Mr. Mansfield. We don’t need to unite and forget.  Biden won, Trump lost. Elections have consequences, we Democrats need to do what we think is right and push our agenda, we won.

Seventy-five million of us voted to remove a man that was an absolute failure and embarrassment. Pandemic running wild and he gives up. He doesn’t know what the words service, honor and sacrifice mean. He lies and lies and we are better off now he has lost. Let him go play golf and eat hamburgers so we don’t have to hear him anymore.

What a great week our country had and I can’t quit smiling.

Mr. Reesor, I’m reminded of the Mark Twain quote about the speed of truth and lies. Here’s a link to Detroit Free Press story about vote theft.

Nothing there suggests your allegations of that are based in fact.

Rodney Strong wrote it's time to celebrate the election of Biden/Harris.  Rodney, how can you even think about saying that after the voters of Tennessee overwhelmingly rejected everything the new far left, socialist, Democratic party stands for? Over 60 percent of voters in Tennessee voted for families, our flag, and our Constitution the way our founding fathers meant for it to be.

Sir, your party has admitted it's against everything we have fought and died for for over 200 years. So no sir, now isn't the time to celebrate because our very own country is under attack from a faction of its own citizens.

This is no longer Republican versus Democrat, this has become a battle of good versus evil.  A line has been drawn in the sand and it's now Americans versus the Democratic proposed new world order coupled with socialism.

Why don't y'all just go ahead and change the name from the DNC to what y'all have become, the socialist party.

Myself along with over 60 percent of Tennesseans are appalled and ashamed.  You didn't have to like President Trump but if you're honest you should admit he put this country first again in every aspect. Economy strong, more jobs than in past decades, trade deals that favored Americans for the first time in my life. When was the last time we heard from North Korea? When was the last time we had a terrorist attack? Gas prices the lowest in decades, the working man and woman bringing home more of their paycheck.

So, no sir, it's not time to celebrate, it's time to hunker down and prepare for what's coming and hope those that wanted this change see its damage and help us restore it in four years.

I’m not one to commonly read the opinion columns, let alone respond to them, but this one did catch my eye.  Let me say, I have absolutely no discordance or acts of disunity planned following the election.

But, I have to ask, did I read Mr. Strong’s post correctly?

Here is what I got….”blah, blah, blah…even though we caused virtually all of the disunity in this nation by acting like petulant children, now that we have most of what we wanted, we can have unity and healing now.”

Did I get that right? Think he typed his post with a straight face?  If he did, I’m not playing poker with him.

Bill Reesor responded far better than I ever could, but I have to mention one thing that scares me about this coming administration.  We are one old man’s breath away from having the most radical and liberal president that we have ever had.  One that dropped out early in her own party’s primary, due to lack of support.  From less than 3 percent (I’m being generous here) of the vote of her own party, to President, sooner than we think I’d venture to guess.  I could absolutely support our first woman president, and I’ll celebrate the fact that we’ve come far enough in our thinking to have one now if it happens. But, I really wish it could be someone else…give me Nicky Haley, Candace Owens, anybody else, please!

God Bless America!

Rodney Strong's appeal for unity reminds me of an old tale he probably has heard as an attorney. A teen-ager murders his mother and father and then pleads for mercy from the court since he is an orphan. Sorry, Rodney, TL squared, too little, too late.

If you think we are going to sit back and let you and your cronies turn this country into a cesspool like Detroit, Chicago, Memphis, Baltimore, Newark and other places run by Democrats, then as another saying goes, "you are whistling into the wind."

See you in 24, Rodney.

First, I say outstanding analogy to Doug Jones.

Next, I wish I could agree with Mr. Strong, but have to remember how bitterly the progressives behaved after Trump won. From day one they chanted impeachment. No grounds, just the fact he won. And we saw they did what they threatened.

It grew worse with more angry protests. There were walkouts at colleges and even in high schools. Fires were lit, flags were burned and a Trump piñata was burned. So-called celebrities made vicious, profanity laced speeches full of threats and slurs. Interstate highways were blocked in LA, San Diego and, of course, Portland, Or.

The protests expanded to more cities and college campuses too numerous to name. A list can be found in Wikipedia under the title, “A timeline of protests after the election of Donald Trump.”
Where oh where was the “dignity in defeat” by so many like Maxine Waters?

The hateful rhetoric has not ended, it’s ramping up. Jennifer Rubin of the Washington Post and MSNBC on Saturday wrote, “The entire Republican Party should burn down with no survivors.” Does that sound like healing? Rubin has no desire for that. This is cleansing. Rubin’s words are dangerously incendiary and could be interpreted by the violent Antifa thugs as a call to action. And has Twitter banned her?

Let us also not paper over the progressives’ rallying call, “he’s not my president!” Good wishes won’t erase the memories of “Not My President Day” rallies. There were yard signs, T-shirts and so-called humorous images on line. And no, Twitter didn’t ban it, they supported it with #NotMyPresident.

There is one thing for sure. If all ligation and recounts fail and Joe Biden is sworn in as the 46th President of the United States, we should never say “he’s not my president!” Just consider his replacement.

A famous person recently said: "If you spent the last year calling every Trump supporter a racist, you don't get to pull this 'We're on one team now' nonsense.

"Either they're legitimately racists and you shouldn't want them on your team, or you blatantly lied about them and they shouldn't want to be on yours."

David Terry

Apparently Mr. Strong did not take high school civics otherwise he would know that the winner of a presidential election is not determined by MSNBC and CNN despite what they would have you believe.  I'm also willing to bet he does not know what happens if a clear winner, because of whatever reason, massive fraud in this case, cannot be determined.

Here is a number for you to ponder, Mr. Strong.  26-24. 26-24 is the general consensus of most political scholars of the vote in the House where each state has one vote.

Rodney Strong is absolutely correct in what he said about the election being won, and admonishing Democrats not to gloat.  It is, certainly, past time for people of good will to come together, and attempt to "bind up the nation's wounds" as Lincoln admonished us to do in 1865, and Republican Senator Howard Baker did before his death. Senator Baker called for civility. As you know they were both Republicans!  This is exactly what Rodney is calling for.  It's past time for this to happen, and all Americans who love this country should want any president to succeed.  That hasn't been the case with many Republicans in recent years.  Republican Senator McConnell not only said but worked, from day one, to defeat every thing Obama tried to do, and continued during Trump"s four years.  That's un-American!

Many disparaging words over the last four years have come from both political parties. However, enormous damage has been done in these years by President Trump, both domestically and internationally.  He is the worst president in our history.  People know this unless they have been only watching Fox News, Sean Hannity, Lou Dobbs and company, or getting all their information on the internet with all those horrible conspiracy theories. People who lack good will only make excuses.  They are also poor "losers" as is evidenced by the attack on Rodney Strong.  For the record:  Rodney had two great Civic teachers, both at Red Bank Jr. and Sr. High schools.  He knows government.

It is so sad President Trump can't be as magnanimous as was Senator John McCain in accepting defeat.  But let's face it, Trump is no McCain.  He is willing to destroy our nation if it "profits" him  He has broken every norm and many laws and I hear he is contemplating pardoning many of his friends; even himself. But make no mistake about it, come noon, Jan. 20, his presidential credentials will be withdrawn.  It doesn't matter how many lawsuits he files.

President Trump could see the "handwriting on the wall" months ago.  Ole "sleepy Joe" ate his lunch and he saw it coming.  That's the reason he said (months ago) if he didn't win it would be a "stolen election."  Firing the secretary of defense in a  transitional period is very dangerous.  But to Trump our national security be darned if his ego gets in the way.  No, Trump doesn't care, and neither do his "sore losing" supporters.  Again, you can see this with these attacks on Rodney Strong.

Rodney did a great job as the leader of the Hamilton County Democrats.  When that happens losers come out of the woodwork to attack you.  People of good will don't do this. Way to go Rodney, you did something right.
