Kathy Lovin, RN, MSN, was born on February 18, 1948.

Kathy Lovin, formerly of Chattanooga, died in her home in Sarasota/Bradenton, Florida on Wednesday, February 12, 2020. 

Kathy spent the last 17 years of her working career in various managerial roles with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Tennessee, Chattanooga office.  Previously, she had worked at Beacon Health Services, Healthcorp of TN and as office manager for Orthopaedic Associates all of Chattanooga.  Prior to moving to Chattanooga, she also worked at hospitals in St. Louis, Mo. and Mt. Vernon, IL.  She also worked as a civilian nurse at Fort Polk Army Hospital during the Vietnam War.

Kathy held a diploma in Nursing from Barnes Hospital School of Nursing in St. Louis, Mo. She had a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing from Webster University in St. Louis, Mo. and master’s of Science in Nursing from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, Chattanooga.

She also held certifications in Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) and Six Sigma Black Belt Certification (CCSSBB)

She was preceded in death by her father, Thomas Dwight Cummings and mother, Patricia Ann (Bellamy) Cummings.  

She is survived by her husband, Dan, of Sarasota/Bradenton, her son, Brian Lovin and wife Amanda, and grandsons , Preston and Landon all of Summerville, SC.  Also surviving are her mother-in-law, Esther Lovin, Mt Vernon, Il. and uncle and aunt, Paul and Karen Bellamy, Johnson City, Tn. as well as brother and sisters-in-law, and many nieces and nephews.

She and Dan just celebrated the 50 wedding anniversary on Sept. 13.

She was active with the UTC Mocs Club and Associates of Vietnam Veterans Chapter 203.  After retirement, she became an avid oil and watercolor painter.

A Celebration of Life will be planned in the Sarasota/Bradenton area in the near future.
