ADM, a grain milling company, contributed 7,680 pounds (in five-pound bags) of flour to those in need in the greater Chattanooga area.
Richard Boyle, an employee, and resident of Ringgold, was at a local grocery story and took notice that normally full baking shelves were left empty of flour. Thinking about so many people sheltering in place and about those who might be in need during these troubles times, Mr. Boyle said he was inspired to see if there was some way that ADM might be able to help. ADM immediately allotted 24,000 pounds of flour.
Encouraged by ADM’s generous response, Mr. Boyle contacted President Bruce Tidwell, local leader of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Ringgold, for help in distributing. The Church distributed only what was needed – about 7,860 pounds of flour. The flour was distributed to people in 12 different congregations, from Athens to Dalton. Recipients are making home-made meals, and some are making goodies to deliver to others.
President Tidwell thanked ADM, Mr. Boyle and all those involved in this wonderful act of service and unity.
“May Heavenly Father’s grace shine on everyone as we hold together in response to COVID-19,” Mr. Boyle said.
