Norma Lee Boyd, 99, of Apison, Tennessee, passed away on Thursday, April 9, 2020, at Life Care Center of Collegedale.

Norma was born in Louise, Texas on June 6, 1920, to Goldie May Jones and Roy William Henderson.

She worked when she was 15 years old as a switchboard operator. At 17, she was married to Reverend Lewis Edward Boyd who was attending Bible College. They pastored a church in Danville, Ar., Eureka Springs, Ar., and later founded a church in the Heights of Houston, Tx. She was married for 41 years. She managed large apartment complexes for some time then worked for many years in the burglary and theft division of the Houston Police Department.

She had three children, Donald Boyd, Darlene Kent, and Edward Boyd; one brother, Billy Joe Williams; seven grandchildren, Richard Underwood, Christopher Boyd, Sharlene Kent, Elizabeth Reyna, Ronnie Kent, Heather Perron, and Connie McCreight; great-grandchildren are Jordan Reyna, Payton Reyna, Tramari Weber, Faith Underwood, Erin McCreight Chong, Michael McCreight, Elizibeth Bourgeois, and Jon Curtis; and one great-great-grandchild, Cayden Chong.

She loved family, to crochet Afghans, loved plants, to play the piano, and especially loved her dear cat, Squeaky. Her eyes lit with joy every time she received a card and she kept every one of them, all 1200 of them. She was a very strong-willed person with a very kind heart but not afraid to say what’s on her mind and was loved by all who knew her. She was always a mother until the very end and the Rock of our life. We will miss her more than you could explain. There is no goodbye, for wherever you go, you will always be in our heart. In life we loved you dearly and in death we love you still. In our hearts you hold a place no one else will ever fill. The sands of time will never wash away the love we had for you. Your sweet memory will remain forever in our hearts.

Due to the COVID-19 Health Crisis, the family will have a private service for the family only Friday, April 17, at 1 p.m. in the funeral home.  Burial will be in Plowman Cemetery in Apison, Tn.
