Busloads Of COVID-19 Headed This Way - And Response (2)

  • Thursday, August 6, 2020

Peaceful protests are a constitutional right of all Americans under normal conditions.  These are not normal conditions.

Atlanta is a major "hot spot" of new cases and total cases of the virus. So forgive me for saying this, but Atlantans, STAY HOME!

Busloads with an estimated total of 500 protestors are probably bringing coronavirus to Miller Plaza Friday night at 6:30 in the name of justice and equality. It's impossible to social distance on a bus. Will they wear masks as required of us?  Five hundred people six feet apart won't fit in Miller plaza.

We already know everything that could possibly said by the people coming from Atlanta, so what's the point of cross contamination the city of Chattanooga with coronavirus from Atlanta?

How about waiting until spring when maybe we will have a vaccine?

The risk to Chattanoogans versus rewards is nonexistent.

I am saddened to read about these people coming to our city.

I haven’t set foot in downtown Chattanooga since these demonstrators and rioters began their public gatherings.

Maybe they do not realize their violent displays are doing more harm than good.

We citizens (as well as tourists) that might once have enjoyed a nice walk downtown and dinner will no longer come and risk being caught up in the craziness that these people seem to promote. As if coming here from COVID-19 hotspot Atlanta and creating fear and havoc would help their cause?

I am sad for our beautiful Chattanooga and what we have lost not only due to this pandemic but due to these sorts of people taking over our downtown and making it dangerous and unsafe. Not to mention the stress it is going to put on the police department they supposedly want to “defund”.

Illogical thinking if ever there was.

Stay home and keep us Chattanoogans safe.

I cannot believe that Homeland Security and the CDC in Atlanta will be allowing these citizens and protesters for their cause to travel in large groups on buses outside of Atlanta. Think about this, all of these people who have most likely traveled to other parts of our county will now continue to travel and to spread this extremely dangerous virus further to other areas.

The fact that they will now contaminate more cities along their way is just an idiotic idea with no thought behind it.

These buses must be stopped before they leave Atlanta and quarantined for this deadly pandemic. The Georgia Highway Patrol along with other state agencies must act quickly to prevent this coronavirus from further spreading.

This is a complete no brainer. Please help us with whatever you can do to enlighten the proper agencies before we are all doomed to die,

Thank you for all your good work and your great paper.
