Chattanooga FC Strengthens Roster With New Players Before NISA Fall Season

  • Friday, August 7, 2020

When Chattanooga’s Football Club travels north for the NISA fall conference opener, there will be some new faces on the trip. The club is proud to announce the signing of defender Shaun Russell in addition to last month’s signing of midfielder David Koloko. Here’s a deeper dive into the new players joining the first team:

David Koloko:

Koloko is a 6’1” midfielder/defender who hails from Cameroon and arrived in the US via Gardner Webb University.

After college, David played for Charlotte Eagles and NISA rival Stumptown Athletic before landing in the Scenic City.

“David joins us after playing with Stumptown during the spring portion of the NISA season” said Peter Fuller, Head Coach, Chattanooga FC. “David is a solid defender and will help us at multiple positions through the back and possibly the midfield. He’s an excellent athlete with good passing qualities. He closes ground quickly and as a solid one versus one defender. I believe he is an excellent addition to the squad at this time.”

Shaun Russell:

Russell is a 26 year old defender who hails from Chesapeake, Virginia. Shaun graduated from St. Francis University, and has played for Virginia Beach FC, Richmond Kickers, and Forward Madison last season before bringing his skills to Chattanooga FC.

“Shaun joins us after playing last year at Forward Madison in USL League One” said Head Coach Peter Fuller. “He provides some much needed experience at the back. He is an excellent defender and an outstanding athlete! He is left footed which helps fill some of the void with Ray Lee leaving. He is an excellent addition as we enter the NISA portion of the season.”

Both players will be making the trip to play against Michigan Stars this Saturday, August 8th, at 7:00pm. Support the boys in blue by watching the match through the MyCujoo streaming service.
