Morning Pointe of Athens life enrichment director Diane Hutsell accepts a box of notes written by Lee University students from Dr. William Lamb, director of Lee’s Leonard Center
Lee University students put a new twist on their annual Deke Day celebration at Morning Pointe of Athens. Traditionally, Deke Day is Lee students’ first introduction to service-learning, with hundreds of freshmen load onto buses and vans bound for senior living communities like Morning Pointe to interact and volunteer with the residents. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, students instead celebrated Deke Day by sending notes of encouragement and gratitude to Morning Pointe staff and residents.
"Morning Pointe of Athens is so grateful to the students of Lee University for such a thoughtful gesture," said life enrichment director Diane Hutsell. "We cherish our relationships with local schools like Lee, especially during these challenging times.”
