Elizabeth Ann “Mimi” Spencer Haynes, 89, a lifelong resident of Chattanooga went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 10, 2021.

 She was born on December 3, 1931 in Chattanooga to the late Lee Roy and Beulah Spencer.  She was a 1948 graduate of City High School and married the love of her life, Nick Martin Haynes, on September 25, 1948.  Elizabeth was a bookkeeper for Oakwood Baptist Church from 1976-1990 and Mimi was a volunteer at Memorial Hospital Cancer Center from 1996-2011.  She loved sewing, flower gardening, volunteering at Memorial Hospital, helping others in any way she could, and mostly her “Sunday Lunches” with all of her family around the table.  She was the most compassionate, loving, and giving person.  Elizabeth was a selfless servant, who always placed others first.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Nick Martin Haynes, grandchild, Aaron Morgan, brother, Donald Spencer, son-in-law, Mike H. Morgan.

Elizabeth is survived by her children, Debbie Morgan, Bill (Karla) Haynes, Greg (Sheila) Haynes, brother, Ronald Spencer (partner, Keith Gentles), grandchildren, Grant (Meg) Langston, Adam (Shae) Morgan, Lauren (John Hall) Haynes, Garrett (Leslie) Haynes, great-grandchildren, Weland Morgan, Julianne Haynes, Hazel Haynes, Sophia Cantu, and Brady Langston.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, January 21, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at the Chattanooga National Cemetery with Pastor Michael Prettyman officiating.

The family would like to thank Morning Pointe at Greenbriar Cove, Erlanger Palliative Care and Adoration Hospice, nurses, Amy, Michelle and Sue.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to, Adoration Home Health and Hospice Chattanooga, 5740 Uptain Rd. Ste 6300, Chattanooga, TN 37411.

She was a rare soul who loved deeply and unconditionally who touched the hearts of all who knew her.

Due to COVID-19, we request that mask be worn at all times at the cemetery, and that all Hamilton County and the CDC’s mandates be adhered to.
