Richard Donald Brown, Sr., 85, of Chattanooga, passed away on Thursday, January 7, 2021, in the Hospice Care Center.  

He was a graduate of Hightstown High School in New Jersey. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force. Richard was of the Methodist faith. His working career included TVA, Hamilton County Juvenile Department of Corrections, and Partnership For Families.  

He was preceded in death by his father, John Young; mother, Evelyn Brown; and seven siblings. 

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Blanche Spence Brown; sons, Richard (Dairlyn) Brown, Jr. of Bon Aire, GA and Eric Brown of Chattanooga; daughters, Chrystal DeVaughn of Chattanooga, Karen Troutman of Powder Springs, GA, and April (Kelvin) Lloyd of Chattanooga; ten grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a host of nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends. 

Richard will lie in state on Wednesday, Jan. 20, from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. 

A graveside service will follow at 2 p.m. in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
