Margaret “Aline” White
Margaret “Aline” White went to be with her Lord peacefully at home on January 19, 2021.
She was born in Rome, Ga. on April 12, 1942 to Nancy Belle Ray and Charlie Allen Ray—both now deceased. She grew up in LaFayette and Chicago Heights, Il. She graduated from LaFayette High School.
Kenny and Aline first met when he was “Principal for the Day” at her junior high. They spoke, and Kenny thought to himself, “She’s beautiful. I’m going to marry that girl someday!” Years later, they were indeed married on April 23, 1961. They have been faithfully married nearly 60 years.
Aline helped many children as a paraprofessional at Rock Spring Elementary. Through the years she taught Sunday School to youth and women and sang in the choir when she served actively at Center Point Baptist Church and 2nd Baptist Church. She also held various leadership positions at Bible Study Fellowship in Chattanooga.
Her greatest joys included her relationship with the Lord, studying and teaching the Scriptures, and caring for her family and friends. She was an accomplished oil painter and water-colorist. She loved to read fiction, history, and non-fiction such as the writings of Dietrich Bonhoeffer. An excellent Southern cook, she blessed her family and friends with gracious meals around her table. Aline was a good decorator who knew the value of the antiques she collected in her home. She will be remembered for her gentle, loving voice, and her wisdom and laughter—she was truly a great conversationalist who always had something very meaningful to say. Her husband and children believe there was no finer wife or mother in all the world.
She is survived by her husband, “J.K.” Kenny White of LaFayette, Georgia. She is also survived by her children, Ken White (Terri) of Rome, Georgia; Wendy Welborn (Anthony) of Ringgold, Georgia; John White (Julie) of Winston, Georgia; and Margaret Ann Robinson (Chris) of Loudon, Tennessee. She is also survived by her siblings, Marie (Jimmy) Green, Patsy (Darrell) Sosebee, David (Rosie) Ray, Bobbie Sue (Ronnie) Railey, Pam (Danny) Sosebee, and Cheryl (David) Parham, and many precious nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Jean Brown.
All her grandchildren adored her: AJ White, Katie White, Tyler White, Jake White, Luke White, Megan White, Bailey Robinson, Molly Robinson, Sadie Robinson, Sophie Robinson, and Stella Robinson.
Due to the pandemic, there will be no visitation, and the funeral service and burial will be private.
Pallbearers include David Ray, AJ White, Tyler White, Jake White, Luke White, Bailey Robinson, Kenny Hamilton, and Damon Rice. Dan Priest is an honorary pallbearer.
The family extends loving appreciation for the tender care of sister Patsy Sosebee, Blakely and Kelley from Hearth Hospice, and Dr. Suzanne Storey.
Interment will be at Center Point Cemetery.
Wallis-Wilbanks Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
