Chattanooga Sports Ministries is hosting the 8th Annual Neighborhood Cup 5v5 Soccer Tournament on Saturday, Nov. 20 from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. at Highland Park Commons, 2000 Union Ave. in Chattanooga. The soccer tournament gives anyone and everyone that knows and loves the game of soccer an opportunity to create a team comprising of a group of friends, family and classmates.
“The Neighborhood Cup Soccer Tournament gives kids from all over Hamilton County an opportunity to meet and compete,” said Stefan Arroyo, director of Recreational Programs and Events at Chattanooga Sports Ministries. “In 2019, we hosted 40 teams representing 15 neighborhoods. We are hoping that more teams will participate this year.”
The Neighborhood Cup offers both a competitive and recreational bracket. The early registration price to register a team of at least five players is $200. Late team registration will cost $250 after Nov. 1.
Proceeds from the Neighborhood Cup will benefit Chattanooga Sports Ministries. The nonprofit impacts the lives of over 200 youth from diverse backgrounds between the ages of five and 18 annually through its year-round soccer program. Chattanooga Sports Ministries focuses their efforts and outreach in five Chattanooga urban neighborhoods: East Chattanooga, East Lake, Highland Park, Westside and Emma Wheeler Homes.
