Charnay Ryland has been promoted to Associate Head Coach of the Lee men's and women's track and field program the Lee Athletic Department announced this week.
Ryland has been a key component of the swift rise to the top of the NCAA in her five years as the assistant coach under head coach Caleb Morgan.
The Flames and Lady Flames have experienced a rapid ascension over for the last five years and become a perennial top 10 program.
"I'm very grateful for the opportunity to maintain my service to Lee University and the track program," said Ryland. "I'm very blessed to be able to continue my growth as a coach and aid in the constant elevation of Lee University track and field. Special Thanks to Coach Morgan, the entire coaching staff and all my athletes and as always it's always a great day to be a FLAME!"
"Charnay has been instrumental in the success of our track and field programs over the last five years. There is no doubt that our program's success can be directly attributed to her energy and work ethic. Our athletes are extremely fortunate to have her as our Associate Head Coach," said Morgan.
Under Ryland's watchful eye the Flames and Lady Flames have captured three GSC Indoor Championships, six outdoor titles, three individual national championships and have had multiple athletes qualify for nationals in all five years she has been with the program.
The combo of Ryland and Morgan sets the Lee track and field program up for continued success over the next several years. With a new state-of-the-art facility, the Ray Conn Sports Complex, a veteran team and highly touted young recruits, the sky is the limit.
