Walter Anderson
Col. Walter Dale Anderson, 90, of Lakeview, Georgia, passed away on Monday, December 20, 2021 surrounded by his loving family.
Walter was born in Chattanooga, on May 11, 1931, to the late Mr. Walter T. Anderson and Mrs. Eva J. Wilson Anderson.
Walter served his country honorably in the Korean War and was in the in the United States Army for 33 years, retiring a Full Bird Col. Walter Dale Anderson. He served actively for two years and spent 31 years in the reserve. Walter held a Bachelor’s Degree in accounting and finance and retired from Combustion Engineering after 35 years of service. After retirement, Walter spent his time playing cards, checkers, dominoes, board games and chess. Most of all, Walter’s greatest passion was playing with and spoiling his granddaughters senseless and eating breakfast at the Cracker Barrel.
Walter was preceded in death by his loving wife, Ellen Bowman Anderson, son, Gary Anderson, great-granddaughter, Delilah Tillery, and sisters; Helen Witt and Nell Eaker.
He is survived by his son, Greg Anderson, daughters; Linda Byerly and Diana (Jimmy) Hartley, granddaughters; Crystal (Joseph) Tillery, Maegin (Travis) Staten, Cassie (Joey) O’Neil, Brandi Byerly(Richard), Emily Hartley (Jamie), great grandchildren; Camilla Tillery, Zachery Boller, Olivia Staten, Lilyana Staten, Cordelia O’Neil, Haden Boleen, and Anderley Hartley.

A funeral service for Col. Walter Dale Anderson will be conducted in the chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory South Crest Chapel on Tuesday, Dec. 28, at 10 a.m. Interment will follow the service at Lakewood South Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends on Monday, Dec. 27, from 4-8 p.m. at Lane Funeral Home South Crest Chapel.
