Commissioner David Sharpe: Tim Kelly Will Champion Education In Our City

  • Thursday, February 11, 2021

Chattanooga needs a mayor who will champion education in our city.

Not only to create options and opportunities for our students, which is vital, but to improve public safety while building up the middle class.

I’ve listened closely to the leading candidates in the current mayoral race, and Tim Kelly's proposals are marked by his track record of advocacy and backed by his proven ability that will ensure every child in our community will have the opportunity to receive a great education - no matter their zip code.

Tim will focus on preparing students to enter kindergarten by providing quality, affordable Pre-K; expanding access to early childhood care through Head Start; building stronger partnerships with Hamilton County Schools and Future Ready Institutes; and investing in trades education.

When I ran for County Commission, I said it was time to move past the politics of complacency and that we needed to elect leaders who are committed to the hard work it takes to get things done. I know that Tim shares that belief and that he has what it takes to lead our city.

I am proud to support him to be our next Mayor of Chattanooga.
