Wanda “Bee Bee” Meschil Spurgeon Bryant, 61, formerly of Chattanooga, passed away on Thursday, March 4, 2021, in a local hospital.  

She was a 1977 graduate of Howard High School and often amazed fans with her majorette skills during school events.  Wanda was a member of Greater St. John Missionary Baptist Church, where she served on the Usher Board and was a member of the S.R. Spence Choir.  She was a dedicated employee of Shaw Industries for 25 years.  Her most recent employers include ABM Janitorial Services and Parkridge Hospital East. 

Wanda was preceded in death by her grandparents, Mattie and Jessie Fife; father, Oliver Spurgeon, Sr.; and sister, Carolyn Spurgeon Buford. 

Survivors include her husband, Gary Jerome Bryant; daughter, Kayla Bryant; grandchildren, Anela Bryant, Alaysia Pointer, Alaina Pointer, and Amir Pointer; mother, Annie Ruth Freeman; brothers, Oliver (Yolanda) Spurgeon, Jr. of Warner Robins, GA and Curtis Spurgeon of Atlanta, GA; brother-in-law, Jerome Buford of Warner Robins, GA; mother-in-law, Anna Bell Bryant; sisters-in-law, Mary Ann (Lyndon) Word and Shelia Lewis of Chickamauga, GA; a host of nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends. 

Wanda will lie in state on Friday, March 12, at 9 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home with the family service to follow at 11 a.m. in the chapel with Elder Delford L. Hughey, Sr. as the eulogist.  Burial will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
