Tommy Lee Macon, age 86, of Dalton, Georgia, passed away Thursday, April 15, 2021.

He was born on Dec. 25, 1934 to the late Lillie Mae Mays Macon and Benjamin Joe Macon, Sr.

He was preceded in death by his son, James Neal; granddaughter, Tara Neal; sisters, Cora Moore, Sarah Ruth Garner, Helen Wofford, Janie Sue Moore; and brother, Ben Joe Macon, Jr.

He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and was Honorably Discharged, and a member of Hopewell Baptist Church.

Survivors are his loving and devoted wife of 64 years, Betty Jean Washington Macon; daughter, Chinita A. (Michael) Hodo; sons, Ken (Annette) Anderson, Tommy A. (Avis) Macon, Marcus M. (Annette) Macon, Tim L. (Angie) Macon, J. Wayne Macon, Stan Anderson; six grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Helen Harris; brother-in-law, James (Pauline) Washington, Sr.; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, his favorite pet dog, Zion; and friends.

A homegoing celebration will be on Wednesday, April 21, at 1 p.m. at the Willis Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Bobby Calhoun as eulogist.

His remains will lie in state after noon on Tuesday, April 20, until the funeral hour.

Interment will be at Hopewell Cemetery.

Everyone is required to wear masks and follow all requirements of the COVID-19 restrictions.
