Roy Exum: Our Woke USA Is Nuts

Most of you will know that on April 13 our Centers for Disease Control and the Federal Drug Administration issued joint orders to “pause” distribution of the Johnson and Johnson COVID vaccine because immunizations of the drug were believed to cause blood clots in some women. What you may not know it that “some women” really equaled a total of six women. I am not a physician who knows the mechanics of “vaccine-induced prothombotic immune thrombocyctopenia” but I am most assured six women can ride comfortable in my Toyota 4-Runner at the same time. That explains my SUV’s third-row seating.

What that also explains is this “woke” nation has gone over the deep end and is now slap-crazy. Prior to the “pause,” which is believed to be lifted “hopefully no later than Friday,” over 7 million Americans were given the J&J vaccine, so if six women got blood clots, your chance of getting the same type of blood clot is 0.00008. Your chance of getting COVID flu is one in 1,666. Far worse, between 7,000-to-8,000 Americans die every day. In the 10 days of J&J vaccine being unused roughly 75,000 Americans will die. To be honest, only four percent of those who have been vaccinated have been give the one-dose J&J vaccine but I’ll play any game where my chances are 9.9-plus percent.

Yet six women – who most certainly had naught to do with the CDC/FDA idiocy – tabled a drug we never needed as badly in our lives for 10 days. That a dagger in the hearts of those already hesitant to vaccinate and tt further weakens the credibility of two worthy organizations.

THE NCAA’s PhDS ARE A MATCHING SET OF BOZOS

* -- Then there is the National Collegiate Athletic Association’s Board of Governors who unanimously (!) voted to allow biological men to compete on women’s teams and in individual competitions because the men involved feel like they are a woman. Time after time scientific studies at many of the schools these governors represent have consistently proven males can run faster, jump higher, hit a ball further, and are athletically more superior in sports ability that biological females.

Tennessee is one of 28 states that require birth gender as an athletic standard but the left-leaning NCAA, which has exploited athletes for riches, is most certainly supportive of the Democrats’ far left policies. It has been openly feared a proliferation of males on womens’ sports teams could be a death knell for womens sports for this primary reason – it isn’t fair.

HOORAY FOR PROFESSOR MERIWEATHER AT SHAWNEE STATE

When we last hear from Prof. Nicholas Meriweather he was embroiled with Shawnee State University leadership because he refused to call a transgender student by the student’s preferred pronoun.

Meriweather told TV host Tucker Carlson, “Well, basically if I had not (sued), I would have been fired, I would have been terminated. That was one reason. It wasn't the only reason. The other was as you say, as you just said, I think we need to stand up against it, and I do think that we are losing our academic freedom. We are losing our freedom to disagree, and until people stand up to it, I think it's just going to get much, much worse much, much faster.”

Meriwether was joined by his attorney, Kristen Waggoner with the Alliance Defending Freedom, who explained the importance of the legal precedent this case set. “We won on both free speech and free exercise grounds, and the 6th Circuit Court of Appeals said very clearly that the use of titles and pronouns is a part of a debate that this nation is engaging in right now, and that those terms are infused with great meaning.

“That it is not the government's role to set the terms of that debate or weigh in on one side or the other,” the lawyer said. “The court's decision actually referenced what would happen if the government demanded ideological purity. It used examples like the government could then force a pacifist, for example, to have to support war. It could force a civil rights icon to criticize the freedom riders, or to even force a Christian to deny the existence of god. Those are examples that the 6th Circuit itself recognized, and it basically said, if the government has that kind of power, it can essentially do almost anything it wants. That power is unlimited.”

LIZ PEEK DESCRIBES THE FAR-LEFT DEMOCRATS

Columnist Liz Peek, a great writer, hit the nail square on head when she mauled the liberals in a recent article entitled, “Biden’s Partisan Presidency – Dems Too Far Left To Reach Across the Aisle. Here’s why.” Read this excerpt:

“Until voters rise up against Democrats’ identity politics, pitting one group against another will continue the party’s chief strategy.

“At the same time, Biden’s Democrats have moved so far to the left that the gap may well be too wide to bridge even if the president were so inclined. Democrat thinking today seems crazy to many common-sense Americans; it might have even seemed untenable to then-candidate Obama.

“Today’s Democrats believe:
* -- That freeing criminals from jail and taking cops off the streets will make our neighborhoods safer.
* -- That allowing hundreds of thousands of poor, uneducated people to enter our country illegally will make the United States more prosperous.
* -- That handing out "free money" will create a society where "work, not wealth" is rewarded.
* -- That teachers’ unions should not be held accountable for the deplorable failures of our inner-city schools, even as we pay more than almost any country on earth for public education.
* -- That raising taxes on employers will promote hiring.
* -- That the United States can run up endless amounts of debt, because "modern monetary theory" – an untested academic hypothesis – suggests that there will never be a reckoning.
* -- That we should sacrifice our productive and efficient energy industries on the altar of climate change, even though China’s emissions are twice those of the U.S. and growing rapidly, while ours are shrinking.
* -- That our country is "systemically racist" even though Black Americans have proportionate representation in Congress, and we have twice elected a Black president.
* -- That raising taxes on the wealthy will make everyone else better off.
* -- That biological men should compete in women’s sports, because gender is an attitude, not a fact.
* -- That 16-year-olds should be allowed to vote but that people that age crossing the border illegally are "children."
* -- That censoring dissonant political voices, and a president of the United States, promotes freedom.

“Many of these ideas don’t make sense. Some are downright offensive. But all help explain why President Biden will struggle to attract support for his progressive programs.”

MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL FLUBS AGAIN

Major League Baseball is the newest “blue state.” First, Commissioner Rob Manfred very brazenly removed this year’s All-Star game from 50 percent black Atlanta to 90 percent white Denver over Georgia’s updated voting laws. As scholars have now reviewed the changes, the consensus is the new format will result in better voting for everyone.

Yet last Monday night the Minnesota Twins cancelled the game against the Red Sox to stand in solidarity with Black Lives Matter in now riot-torn Minneapolis. Last Sunday a known criminal, Daunte Wright, a Hispanic wanted on an outstanding firearms violation, was accidentally shot, and killed by a police officer who mistakenly grabbed her pistol instead of her taser during a tense exchange.

Wright was shot and killed on April 11 and the Reds game was cancelled the next day. The Minnesota Timberwolves and Minnesota Wild also postponed their respective games scheduled for last Monday (April 12). night in response to the police shooting of Daunte Wright on Sunday (April 11) night.

FOR THE RECORD:

According to one news account, Wright, the 20-year-old black man who was shot in an apparent accidental discharge, had previously been charged with first-degree aggravated robbery, fleeing from police, and possession of a handgun without a permit. Wright also had a warrant for his arrest out at the time of his fatal shooting after failing to appear in court for the fleeing and weapons charges.

The aggravated robbery charge stemmed from a 2019 incident in which Wright and an acquaintance attended a party at an apartment and were told to leave around 2:30 a.m. by two women who rented the apartment, according to court documents. But the two men said they did not have a ride, prompting the women to allow them to stay the night.

The next morning, one of the women left the apartment to get $820 in cash to pay the other for her share of the rent before leaving for work. The other woman stayed behind while Wright and his acquaintance waited for their ride. Then, the woman alleged that Wright blocked the door and pulled out a handgun "with silver trim out from either his right waistband or his right coat pocket” and demanded that the woman hand over the $820 while pointing the gun at her.

When the woman asked Wright if he was “serious,” Wright responded by saying, "Give me the ----ing money. I know you have it. ... I’m not playing around.”

Wright then choked the woman while attempting to pull the money out of her bra, but she was able to free herself and "started to kneel down and scream” for the men to get out of her apartment, telling them the police were close by. But Wright threatened to shoot her if she didn’t turn over the money, saying, "Give me the money, and we will leave. Give me the money, and we will go."

Wright then attempted to choke the woman a second time, but the two men eventually left the apartment without the money, driving away in a white Cadillac. Wright was later arrested and released on $100,000 bail under the condition that he would not contact the victim or witnesses, could not use drugs or alcohol, and was not allowed to possess a firearm. That bail was revoked in July because Wright was found in possession of a firearm and had not kept in contact with his probation officer.

The case was still pending when Wright was pulled over with an expired registration on Sunday before he was shot and killed. The police officer was arrested for second-degree manslaughter.
