NASCAR star Kyle Larson of California raced at Tazewell Speedway, north of Knoxville, on Saturday night. The 1/3 mile high banked dirt track hosted the Lil' Bill Corum Memorial for Super Late Models of the Ironman and Spring Nationals series, boasting a $21,000 winners prize.
Larson met fans and posed for pics prior to the night's action where he piloted the Rumley Motorsports #6 racecar. Larson could only battle for second the entire 75 laps of the feature, holding off Texan Tyler Erb.
Blairsville's Jonathan Davenport dominated the event in his #49 machine. Georgian's Dale McDowell and Donald McIntosh rounded out the top five behind Erb. Reigning Lucas Oil Dirt Late Model series champ Jimmy Owens (# 20) of nearby Newport, rallied to sixth overall after crashing during qualifying. Brandon Overton of Evans. GA was eighth.
The United Championship Racing Alliance 604 Crate Late Model series presented by Red Line Synthetic Oil will be at Tazewell Speedway in three weeks for the rescheduled Charles Trammell Memorial on Saturday, April 24.
