Former Kansas Jayhawk Silvio De Sousa is transferring to UT-Chattanooga after the 22-year old spent three seasons with the program. Stadium's Jeff Goodman reported the news first, and then De Sousa made the following announcement on his social media.
"HAPPY TO ANNOUNCE I WILL BE ATTENDING THE UNIVERSITY OF TENNESSEE AT CHATTANOOGA.
I'M OFFICIALLY A MOC.'
De Sousa came to Lawrence as a four star recruit, and had a controversy-filled stint with the Jayhawks. He was ruled ineligible for his sophomore season in 2018-19 after it was alleged that he took money during recruitment. He was suspended in 2020 for his involvement in a massive postgame brawl in a January game against Kansas State.
He left the program later that year, and it was revealed that he is facing felony battery charges for his alleged role in a New Year day barfight. The Kansas City Star reported more about the incident
here.
De Sousa has one year of eligibility left.
