Hawks Talon GC Continues Fall In Standings Following Double Loss To Knicks Gaming

Thursday, July 22, 2021 - by Joseph Dycus

Hawks Talon GC continued to free-fall down the 2K League standings after Knicks Gaming routed the Atlanta-based team in back-to-back contests.

Lee Lamb was a bright spot for the squad, with the second-year interior player putting up yet another 16 point, 14 rebound double-double in the 95-60 loss. Caesar “CEEZ” Martine put up 19 points and seven assists, while Michael “BP” Diaz Cruz added 17 points with five three point makes.

Coach Wesley Acuff was optimistic before the game started, and spoke glowingly of the fine practices the team had gone through in the days leading up to Wednesday’s beatdown.

After winning five straight games, the team has gone through another free fall.

“I feel like we made a breakthrough in understanding what we need to do for the rest of the season to make a Ticket (tournament) push. Just getting back to the good vibes we had at the start of the season and believing in each other and taking accountability for what we’re not doing. I was very satisfied with yesterday’s practice.”

“Every practice and every game is training for the Ticket, and we’re trying to find the best lineup that works and that we believe can get through the Ticket. Everyone still believes, and we’re booking a few extra scrimmages to get ready.”

Diaz-Cruz got the start at point guard in the second 79-53 loss, and put up 21 and nine assists, while Martinez put up 15 points and Thomas Batts grabbed a team high five rebounds. Hawks Talon play against T-Wolves Gaming on Thursday at 7:20.
