CDOT Announces Upcoming Road Closures

Tuesday, July 27, 2021

The Chattanooga Department of Transportation announces the following upcoming road closures:  
 

McCallie Tunnel - Westbound
 
McCallie Tunnel westbound will be closed on the following dates and times for TDOT inspection:
Tuesday, July 27 at 8 p.m. until Wednesday, July 28 at 5 a.m. 
Detours will be posted. Please plan additional time while traveling. 

Delmont Street
 
Delmont Street near the intersection of Frazier Ave will be closed Wednesday, July 28 through Friday, July 30 for repairs to an adjacent building. Please use E. Manning Street as a detour. 

Shallowford Road 
 
Shallowford Road will be reduced to one lane between Jersey Pike and Cromwell Road on Wednesday, July 28 from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. for vegetation management. Two-way traffic will be maintained with the use of flaggers. Delays are expected, please use alternative routes if possible.

4200 Block of Bonny Oaks Drive
 
The 4200 block of Bonny Oaks Drive at the South Chickamauga Creek Bridge will be reduced to one lane between Churchill Road and Youngstown Road on Wednesday, July 28 starting around 2-4 p.m. for a bridge inspection. Two-way traffic will be maintained with the use of flaggers. 

McCallie Tunnel - Eastbound
 
McCallie Tunnel eastbound will be closed on the following dates and times for TDOT inspection:
Wednesday, July 28 at 8 p.m. until Thursday, July 29 at 5 a.m. 
Detours will be posted. Please plan additional time while traveling. 

Stringers Ridge Tunnel
 
Stringers Ridge Tunnel on Cherokee Blvd will be closed on the following dates and times for TDOT inspection:
Thursday, July 29 at 8 p.m. until Friday, July 30 at 5 a.m. 
Detours will be posted. Please plan additional time while traveling.

Chattanooga Police say videos show that a man who claimed he was attacked by gangs downtown actually initiated a fight and was intoxicated and belligerent.
