The 6u Ooltewah Unicorns, based out of Ooltewah Youth Association, are bringing a World Series Championship back to Chattanooga. Ooltewah defeated the Hernando Legacy 18-10, to secure the Dizzy Dean Softball World Series championship.
Ooltewah sent the state champions from Mississippi into the losers bracket Sunday.
Hernando then worked their way back into a rematch, but couldn’t keep pace with the shutdown defensive plays turned in by multiple Unicorn players today.
The 6u Ooltewah team finished the tournament a perfect 4-0.
Ooltewah Youth Association nearly finished the day with two teams reaching the crowning achievement. The 8u Ooltewah Lady Owls, who also made the World Series, bested Hernando’s 8u team to advance to the semi-finals. The Lady Owls then fell to the Saltillo Mississippi All-stars, finishing 3rd in the series.
The Unicorns and Lady Owls each landed players on All Tournament Teams for their age divisions. Dizzy Dean selected Teagan Chrnaloger, Presley Cronin, Kennedy Gentry, Kinsley Hunt and Allison Sherbesman from the Unicorns and Bailey Fulk, Emery Nolen and Emery Trogdon from the Lady Owls.
Ooltewah Youth Association is a local youth recreational organization, providing baseball, softball, football, basketball and cheerleading experiences for area children. To learn more, visit ooltewahyouth.com.
