A Great Day To Be A Democrat - And Response

  • Wednesday, August 11, 2021

So Governor Cuomo resigns after overwhelming evidence of sexual harassment becomes public. And kudos to the New York attorney general who led the investigation of her fellow Democrat.

Cuomo is a political embarrassment of a lifetime but the two previous Dem governors also had to resign for similar reasons.

Even more embarrassing is Cuomo and Elliott Spitzer were both the attorney general of New York before becoming governor. One would think an AG would be aware of laws and be able to abide by them. Evidently not in the Empire State.

* * *

Yes, Douglas, what a difference a year makes. As the news media stews over the Andrew Cuomo matter, consider these words from last year.

The New Yorker, while careful to imply Cuomo was authoritarian, couldn’t help praising his handling of the pandemic. The October, 2020 article was also filled with many of the governor’s harsh attacks and criticisms of Trump’s performance. Then slipping back into adoration mode, the writer, Nick Paumgarten, referred to Cuomo as the self-proclaimed cool dude in a loose mood.

In another magazine, Variety, Cynthia Littleton swooned over Cuomo as she related the words of Corin Nelson, veteran TV-producer. Nelson said, “as a host (Cuomo) made you feel informed, connected, protected and entertained.” Littleton praised Cuomo “for making it personal.”

In April, 2020, on one of the late night clown/talk shows, Joe Biden called Cuomo the “gold standard for governors.” Knowing what we know about Cuomo now, what does that statement say about Joe?

This year superstar Cuomo is the villain. MSNBC reporter Andrea Mitchell, who frequently interviewed Cuomo, is saying the governor has been a toxic and abrasive presence his entire career. So why didn’t Emmy award winner Mitchell express this assessment of Cuomo last year? The reason is obvious. She no longer needs him to contrast against her enemy Trump for more award-winning reports.

What does this situation reveal about the sorry state of national news services today? It confirms the existence of fake news and reveals the phonies who take advantage of the gullible. Sadly, it won’t change the way the leftist media does business.

The same news crowd spinning and twisting the Cuomo saga used to push that line Bill Clinton tossed around about separating his “personal” life from his “professional” life. It seems kind of stupid now doesn’t it?
