Chattanooga-Hamilton County Medical Society Foundation Strike Out Bowling Tournament Postponed

  • Thursday, August 12, 2021

The Chattanooga-Hamilton County Medical Society and Medical Foundation of Chattanooga are postponing the 2021 Strike Out Bowling Tournament originally scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 21 due to the concerning upward trajectory of Covid-19 cases, hospitalizations and deaths, officials said.

“The health and safety of our members and attendees is of the utmost importance to the Medical Society and Foundation, and we have determined a large indoor gathering could not safely be held at this time,” said Medical Society President Carlos Baleeiro, MD, and Medical Foundation President Colleen Schmitt, MD.

"The Chattanooga-Hamilton County Medical Society and Foundation will announce a new date for the event when conditions improve and our community is in a safer place," organizers said.

Proceeds raised at the tournament will benefit Project Access, a coordinated charity care network for donated health care services, and LifeBridge, a physician well-being initiative.

“Our organization has seen an increased need for these services during the pandemic and we appreciate the continued support from the community for these important programs,” the leaders said. “Our community has the ability to reverse this troubling trend of new cases and hospitalizations. We encourage all individuals to wear a mask in public indoor settings to help slow the surge, and urge all eligible individuals to speak with their physician and get the safe and effective vaccine to protect themselves, their families and their community.”
