National Park Partners To Host Party At Point Park Sept. 9

  • Monday, August 16, 2021

Guests are invited to the 13th annual National Treasures: Party at Point Park on Thursday, Sept. 9, from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Presented by First Horizon Foundation, this unique fundraising event benefits National Park Partners and their efforts to preserve and enhance the resources of Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park, including Moccasin Bend National Archeological District.

The stunning views from Point Park provide the backdrop for a casual evening filled with outdoor ambience, allowing guests to appreciate live music from the New Dismembered Tennesseans while they stroll around the park, unwind with complimentary beverages, and enjoy a southern-style BBQ dinner from C&W Café, featuring comfort food classics as well as plant-based options. A professional photographer will be on hand to help guests celebrate the hallmark of the party with a keepsake photo from the iconic Umbrella Rock.

This year’s theme is Come Back to YOUR Park and the evening’s program highlights the ‘History of Lookout Mountain’ through the music of the New Dismembered Tennesseans, accompanied by storytelling from Jennifer Crutchfield and honoring the late Fletcher Bright who played the Party at Point Park with the original Dismembered Tennesseans in 2011 and 2014.

Tickets are $175 per couple or $100 each, with additional options for “Honored Guest” and “Host Partner” ticket packages that include program recognition. All tickets include entry into the drawing for one of a dozen Point Park “gate” prizes, ranging from unique experiences to National Park-inspired artwork.

The economic benefit of more than 650,000 visitors to Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park topped $50 million in 2020 and provided for hundreds of private-sector jobs, according to the U.S. Department of Interior report released in May. “The tremendous economic impact of visitors to our National Park is clear and quantifiable; the physical, mental, and spiritual health benefits of visiting are immeasurable,” said Tricia King Mims, executive director of National Park Partners. “More than just a place to exercise and breathe fresh air, it’s a place we can ‘come back to’ again and again to find peace and comfort along familiar trails and landmarks.”

Proceeds from donations made in lieu of attending will contribute to the newly established Brown’s Tavern Fund and assist National Park Partners in the restoration of the oldest-standing building in Hamilton County and a “witness structure” along the Trail of Tears National Historic Trail and to the Battle of Wauhatchie during the Civil War Campaign for Chattanooga in 1863.

Visit partyatpointpark.com for more details and to purchase tickets or to make a donation in lieu of attending to the Brown’s Tavern Fund.
