Marie Mott Needs Our Prayers - And Response

  • Monday, August 2, 2021

Former City Council candidate and protest leader Marie Mott and I used to be friends.  We had a public falling out over defunding the police and other political issues.

I respect her and know how intelligent she is; her I.Q is off the charts and she is extremely well read.

It is sad to see her get arrested again, especially over a domestic issue.

I miss her suggesting books for me to check out and vice versa.

I disagree with some of her tactics and judgment but I never question where her heart is.  Marie wants to help improve the lives of our most vulnerable residents and indeed she has many times.

I hope and pray to mend my professional relationship with her and build a Rainbow Coalition to be a force for good for all of Chattanooga.

We might not ever see eye to eye on every issue but on ending poverty I feel confident we can find common ground.

Marie is a fighter and humanitarian.  She is an intellectual, empathetic and fearless.

Sometimes as I do we let our passions and emotions get the best of us in the heat of the moment.

I have faith she will bounce back, learn from this experience and continue to lead political movements in Chattanooga.

Please pray for Marie Mott and lift her up with kindness.  She has tremendous potential.

“The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy. The true neighbor will risk his position, his prestige, and even his life for the welfare of others.” ~Rev./Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Anyone else notice the hypocrisy in Marie Mott calling the police repeatedly?
