Inflation And The Cost Of 1 Submarine

  • Sunday, September 19, 2021
I bought my first car at age 15. Parked in the barn because it didn't run but for $75 I could not complain. Gas was a measly 25 cents a gallon. My grandfather was a school superintendent. His salary was $2,200 a year. The writer of the inflation mess in this country presents some very good points and directly targets the federal Government for supervising and being the inflation teacher for all of us unable to do anything about it. Oh, I have heard the myth that one political party is more thrifty than the other.
That is what that is...A myth played upon all of us. What are the solutions?

Does a submarine have to cost one billion dollars give or take a few million and better why do we spend so much on the military. Why not pool efforts with our allies? I could suggest that Canada build one sub and the U.S build two or how about training soldiers by dividing population centers on a percentage basis. Why does the U.S. have to maintain its presence as the military leader of the world? Why do I have to pay taxes when some of the rich and corporate entities pay little or nothing?

The federal government serves a purpose but what is it? Fighting among parties leads to little progress for the citizenry. Whoever occupies the White House appears to be chosen not for the candidate with the most promise to all of us but who presents a pretty face or a louder voice. The U.S. puts a lot of fate in the hands of one person and if that one person fails and occupies the news each night the rest of those that legislate are given a pass.

We do not have solutions for the many ills facing the U.S. and all the voices yelling at each other gives us all a headache. Our representative government does not work well and each time our Congressman is up for reelection he/she prides self with what was done. What does he/she do? That lady from North Georgia is in the news a lot not for legislating but for getting in the news again.

Kudos to Jim Jordan on television - a lot of shouting questions shotgun style at a recipient. What does Chuck do for all of us? I ask over and over again just what do we pay our legislators to do and especially point a gnarled finger at members of the federal government. Paying particular attention to our local government, city and county. Ever notice how well they accomplish for you and I?
