The Covenant men's soccer team climbed into the United Soccer Coaches Region VI rankings for the first time this season as the Scots ranked 10th in this week's poll.
Covenant (3-3-1) joins Maryville (No. 7) as the only two USA South members in this week's poll.
The Scots enter the rankings after winning three straight matches. In that stretch, Covenant defeated current region-ranked No. 9 Centre (1-0 on Sept. 10) and No. 8 Berry (2-1 on Sept. 14).
Defense has been a key for the Scots all season as Covenant leads the USA South with three shutouts and is third with a 1.25 goals against average.
In the three-match win streak, the Scots have outscored opponents 6-1.
Covenant heads to Birmingham, Ala., on Wednesday to take on Birmingham Southern in a non-conference match. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. eastern (7 p.m. central).
