Aisha Shaune’ Washington, 43, formerly of Chattanooga, passed away on Thursday, September 2, 2021, in a Lanham, Maryland hospital.

Aisha graduated from Chattanooga Arts and Science High School and the University of Tennessee Knoxville, where she majored in Sport Management. She also studied at the University of Jyväskylä in Jyväskylä, Finland, Faculty of Sport and Health Science. Aisha was a member of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. She was also a member of the Federal City Alumnae Chapter in Washington, DC. She was employed by the University of Maryland, School of Public Policy as a Program Coordinator, Executive Programs in College Park, Maryland. She was a member of the Black Faculty & Staff Association, as well as a Shop Steward and member of the MOU bargaining team for AFSCME Local 1072 (Council 3), the union for staff at the University of Maryland College Park.

Aisha was preceded in death by her grandparents, Samuel and Martha Washington.

Survivors include her parents, Samuel Nathaniel (Bettina) Washington and Brenda L. Washington; grandmother, Iona Hammonds; aunts, Joyce A. Kidd, Linda Y. Kidd, Anita T. (Hasselle) Ware, and Andrea (Norman) Smith; uncles, Larry Hines, Tyrone Hammonds, Tracy (Sybil) Washington, and Robert (Linda) Williams; a host of cousins; other relatives and friends.

Aisha will lie in state on Friday, Sept. 10, at 9 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home.

Funeral services will follow at noon in the chapel with Bishop Kevin Adams, Sr. as the eulogist.

Burial will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
