After a standout week, Covenant men's basketball graduate student forward Will Crumly was named the USA South Player of the Week, for the period ending on Jan. 23, announced the league.
It is the second conference weekly honor for Crumly this season (Dec. 13) and the sixth in his career.
Crumly averaged a double-double of 22.3 points and 11.0 rebounds per game to go with 2.7 assists and 1.3 blocks per contest to lead the Scots to a 2-1 record. He scored 11 points with eight rebounds and five assists in an 86-54 win over Brevard.
In a 62-60 loss to LaGrange, he had 31 points (23 in the second half) with 13 rebounds and a block. In a 93-66 win over Huntingdon, Crumly had 25 points, 12 rebounds, two assists, and three blocks.
His 31-point effort marked the sixth time in his career to score 30 points in a game. His 17.9 points per game this season ranks fourth in the USA South, while he also ranks fourth in field goal percentage (58 percent) and fourth in rebounding (7.8 per game).
Crumly is fast approaching 1,900 career points as he sits on 1,875 entering this week. Among all active Division III men's basketball players, Crumly is fourth in career points and first in career field goals made (735).
Covenant (8-5, 3-1 USA South) returns to action on Tuesday night at Berea (6 p.m.).
