William “Bill” Blankenship, 77, of Flintstone, passed away on Sunday, January 23, 2022, at his residence with his family by his side. 

Bill was born in Pikeville, Tn., to Jess and Hazel Blankenship.

He was a lifelong resident of North Georgia/Chattanooga. Bill retired from Sloan Paper Company after 32 years of service as warehouse manager. He enjoyed fishing, camping and spending time with his family, especially the grandchildren. He will always be remembered by his love for good food, his jokes, pranks and having a nickname for everyone in the family. He will be dearly missed.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, son, Scott Blankenship; and stepdaughter, Samantha Owenby; brothers, Winford and Norman Blankenship.

Survivors his loving wife, Gail McCall Blankenship, son, Tim (Debbie) Blankenship, sisters, Jan (Denny) Foster; Diane (Harry) DeBoard and Nancy Shasteen, stepson, Ronnie Long and stepdaughter, Tonya Lomenick, 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Graveside service will be conducted on Friday, at 3 p.m. (CST) at Blankenship Cemetery in Pikeville, Tennessee with James DeBord, officiating.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, Jan. 27, from 4–8 p.m. at the South Crest Chapel in Rossville and Friday 11 a.m.–2 p.m. (CST) at the Pikeville Funeral Home.
