Lee University's Homecoming 2022 To Take Place Next Month

  • Friday, October 7, 2022

Lee University’s 2022 Homecoming weekend is one month away, scheduled for Nov. 4-5. Thousands of students, alumni, faculty, and staff will gather on campus for a weekend of fun and new memories with old friends.

This year’s Homecoming will feature traditional events, such as basketball games and club breakfasts, but it will also celebrate some new events and bring back old classics, such as the Homerun Derby and the Homecoming Parade.

“Homecoming 2022 is going to be a great weekend full of reconnecting with old friends, cheering on the Flames, enjoying the excellent music of Lee’s ensembles, and celebrating milestone anniversaries for Upsilon Xi and the Parade of Favorites,” said Dr.

Brad Moffett, vice president for University Relations.

There are dozens of events planned for the busy weekend, and it all begins with check-in on Friday morning. Alumni will want to be sure to check in as this is where they will receive their Homecoming 2022 T-shirt. Those not arriving until Saturday can check in that morning as well.

From the 1918 Society Alumni Golf Tournament to Shenanigans’ 15th anniversary show, Friday has plenty of events for alumni to attend. Flames athletics fans can cheer on their alma mater and support an important cause at the annual Volley for a Cure volleyball match. In the evening,Traditions of Lee will honor Lee’s events, clubs, and programs that have stood the test of time and recognize new ones. Features will include the Parade of Favorites, Greek Life, and music performances.Alumni can also reunite with professors and peers at the various department dessert receptions on Friday.

Friday’s festivities will close with a Lee Theatre production of Sophocles’ “Antigone” and the Shenanigans reunion show.

The Greek service club breakfasts will take place on Saturday for a time of reminiscing and reconnecting. From then on, Saturday is packed with events for alumni and their families. There will be a tailgate party, Flame Fair, and the Homecoming Parade before the Flames women’s and men’s basketball teams preview their seasons with exhibition games at 12 and 2, respectively. At halftime of the men’s game, the 2022 Homecoming Court will be presented. To cap off the day, there will be the athletics’ Hall of Fame dinner and another “Antigone” production.

Throughout the weekend, attendees will enjoy the well-known tradition of the yellow umbrellas hanging over the Pedestrian Mall.

“We look forward to this event all year,” said Taylor Smith, director of Alumni Relations. “We are so excited to welcome our alumni back home for a nostalgic weekend with the Lee family.

In addition to welcoming hundreds of alumni back to campus, the Cleveland community is invited to celebrate this year’s Homecoming events with the Flames at the theatre performances and athletic events.

Those wanting to take advantage of childcare on Friday night must register ahead of time via the Homecoming website and pay a $25/child fee.
