  • Monday, November 28, 2022
The Chattanooga Mocs men's tennis team and head coach Chuck Merzbacher have added top Alabama scholastic prospect Ethan Carr, from Alabama Connections Academy, to next year's 2023-24 roster, the program announced on Monday.

Carr is the No. 1 ranked scholastic prospect out of Alabama for the current 2022 signing class and is listed as a four-star recruit according to Tennis Recruiting Network. Carr is ranked No. 40 in the Southeast while carrying a No. 143 national ranking.

"We are excited to announce that Ethan Carr will be a Moc next year," said Merzbacher.
"This young man was impressive this summer, as I was able to see him compete at the Southern Championships and the National Clay Court Championships. He also, represented the Southern Section at the USTA National Championships in Kalamazoo, MI."

Carr peaked at No. 136 in the national rankings this year and has been a steady top-rated prospect over his four years at the Alabama Connections Academy in Athens, Ala. He has played to a 28-20 overall record against three and four-star prospects during his recruitment.

"I believe Ethan has the work ethic, competitiveness, and a strong desire to learn about the game that will benefit his ability to be a main player in our program. I think Ethan will flourish in college tennis with being surrounded by a competitive and hard-working group that we have here at Chattanooga," Merzbacher concluded.

Additional signees of the Chattanooga Mocs men's tennis program will be announced in the coming weeks, along with the 2023 spring schedule release.
