Adam Geran Brown
Adam Geran “AB” Brown, Sr. , 61, completed his earthly journey and transitioned on January 26, 2022.
Adam was born on August 6, 1960, as the firstborn son of Mr. Adam King and Mildred A. Brown-White, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, who both preceded him in death.
Adam was a 1978 graduate of Howard High School and attended Chattanooga State Community College.
Adam was first introduced to Jesus Christ at the age of 14, when his cousin Allen King, Sr. brought him to The World’s Church of the Living God under the late Bishop W.C. Hunter. He gave his life to Jesus at the age of 18 and was a dedicated member of The World’s Church of the Living God. Adam’s life flourished and he raised his family under the ministry and teachings of his beloved mentor and pastor, Bishop Hunter. He remained a faithful member and had a fierce love of God until his passing.
Adam was a well-known, talented, gifted singer, songwriter, musician, and multi-instrumentalist. With no formal training, he taught himself to play the piano/keyboard, bass and guitar. His favorite genres to perform were gospel, jazz piano and blues guitar. His love and appreciation for music inspired him to pass these talents and skills to his children, as well as teaching piano, guitar and singing lessons to both adults and children all over the city of Chattanooga.
Adam had a love and passion for inspiring the youth. This was demonstrated by his many years of volunteering as a boys baseball coach and girls softball coach with the Lakeside Youth Association. His favorite quotes to the team were, “see the ball, hit the bat,” and “fight to the end, find a way to win, be a champion within”. He loved to uplift and encourage as many people as he could.
He had numerous hobbies, which included reading, drawing, and keeping his mind active by finding ways to learn new things. He loved game nights with his family and friends by playing poker, Monopoly, chess, spades and Scrabble (where he typically won!). He loved watching mafia movies, hours of westerns, and musical biopics of his favorite artists. He spent a lot of time in the kitchen—both eating and whipping up his favorite meals, while creating a new spin on classic recipes, like gumbo, homemade deep dish pizza and chicken cordon bleu.
Adam was employed for many years as a bus driver with the Hamilton County School System and because of his friendly demeanor, infectious smile, and optimistic attitude, he developed lasting relationships with both students and parents.
Adam was preceded in death by his mother, Mildred A. Brown-White; father, Adam King; grandparents, George and Mary King, and Ruby L. Barnes; nephew, Daniel Evans, two uncles and five aunts.
One of Adam’s goals in life was to become an amazing father, since he did not have that privilege growing up. Without a doubt, he fulfilled his dream and his legacy will be remembered through his loving children, (the Core Four): Adam Jeran Brown Jr., Anthony Maurice Brown, Adrienne Marissa (fiancé, Kincaid Wilson) Brown, and Amara Miranda Jean Brown; grandchildren, Autumnsky Judy Brown, Jayden Anthony Maurice Brown, Wilson Henry Adam Brown, Melodie and Journie Brown; his former spouse, mother of his children and lifetime friend, Judie Brown; one brother, Terry Wayne Brown; four sisters, Deborah Ann Long, Ruby L. (Julius) Dennis, Alma D. Brown, and Brenda M. Brown, all of Chattanooga, Tennessee; aunts, Annie Williams, Chicago, Illinois and Lizzie Mae King; his devoted “Big Cuz”, Allen King Sr.; mother-in-law, Willena Nunn. Lifelong friends, Jeffrey Lindsey and Lamont Brooks, and a host of beloved aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, church family and many, many friends.
One of his favorite scriptures that he loved to live by was Philippians 4:13:
“I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.”
