What's The Goal Of The Jan. 6 Commission - And Response

  • Saturday, February 5, 2022

Currently Democrats hold a slim majority in the U.S. House. That is not a mandate of support from the vast majority of American citizens. So what is the goal of their so-called Jan. 6 Commission?

Looking at the construct of this body, one thing is very clear. It’s designed to complete the destruction of Donald Trump which the Russia collusion sham and two fraudulent impeachments failed to do.

As with earlier schemes, the fix was in. Speaker Pelosi’s ultimate power in selecting members was like the Mafia overseeing the operation of Powerball. The woman who ripped her copy of the President’s State of the Union Address behind his back on national TV is hardly the unbiased monitor of stability of the republic. Neither are the seven Democrats and one Republican she  personally tapped for the commission.

Each of her choices is a critic of Trump. Cheney made no secret of her dislike being one of only two Republicans voting for the commission. Raskin was an impeachment manager. Schiff was a tireless spinner of myths about Russian collusion and reprised that little dance during the first impeachment. Chairman Bennie Thompson hasn’t tried to hide his contempt for Trump and is actually suing him.

So the Democrats cannot claim Pelosi refusing two outspoken Trump supporters, Jordan and Banks, seats on the commission is justifiable because of their bias. It’s because the revenge team wanted no questioning of their sinister methods. That’s why Minority Leader McCarthy pulled five other Republicans claiming it was “an egregious abuse of power.”

The role model for this panel is really not the Spanish Inquisition, but ABC’s daytime TV show The View and it has all the absurdity that farce has including its members.

Hopefully the Jan. 6 Commission wants to find the facts and truth of the lead up to and events of Jan. 6.

The GOP Senate rejected 54-35 the formation of a bi-partisan commission that would have ten members split between the two parties.

It may be that 98 percent of the rally participants had no intention of entering the Capital or using violence, but it certainly appears some organized groups had a mission to break and enter the Capital and disrupt the certification of the election and transfer of power. Who knows what would have happened if any members of Congress had come in contact with the mob. The day's events were certainly not legitimate political discourse as per the RNC.

The Jan. 6 Commission certainly has the need to understand the security failures, efforts to overturn the election, and potential clarifications of the process for counting of the electoral votes. All Americans should be interested in getting to the truth.
