U.S. Army Veteran Had An Outgoing Personality

Jerry Pope, 80, passed away on Friday, March 11, 2022. 

He was a United States Army veteran, serving our country in the Vietnam Era.  Jerry was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, a true family man. He was also an avid Alabama Crimson Tide fan. He loved people and was well loved in return. He had an outgoing personality that made him instantly likable to anyone and will be deeply missed.

Jerry was preceded in death by his father, Hubert Pope, and his mother, Lucille Lowe.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Jean; sons, Lamar Pope and Brent (Teresa) Pope; daughters, Regina (Billy) Ingram and Caprice (Shawn) O’Kelley; grandchildren, Jessica, Emily, Allison, Garrett, Tanner, Javan, Hannah, Abigail, Jacob, Jena and Tyler, and great-grandchildren, Jonah, Rhett, Bentley, Paislee, and one on the way.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 17, from 10 a.m. - noon at Hickory Valley Baptist Church at 2320 Hickory Valley Road in Chattanooga.  A funeral service will follow  at noon with Pastor Brent Pope and Pastor David Kemp officiating.

 

Jerry will be laid to rest in Chattanooga National Cemetery with military honors.
