Henry Denton Cole
Henry Denton Cole went to be with the Lord on Monday, May 9, 2022.
He is preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Bailey Cole; his parents Frank and Pearl Cole; and 11 siblings, Wilburn (Zula) Cole, Lela (Coy) Dunn, Ernest (Carolyn) Cole, Jim (Dorothy) Cole, Troy Cole, Ethel (Clayton) England, F.L. (Dot) Cole, Paul (Louise) Cole, Cecil (Annie Ruth) Cole, Donald (Tina) Cole and Ozella (Rex) Witherow.
Mr. Cole celebrated his 90th birthday on Feb. 3 with his family and friends. He was born in Dalton, Ga. and grew up in the Dawnville community. He attended high school at Berry Academy in Rome, Ga. and was a life-long member of Harmony Baptist Church. For many years, he worked as a delivery/salesman for Whitehead Linen. Later, he was known around Dalton as “THE COFFEE MAN” as he was the founder/owner of Cole’s Coffee Service. He spent many Saturdays on the golf course with his special friends.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Cargel Cole; his two daughters and sons-in-law, Elaine (Mike) Whaley of Dalton and Debbie (Randy) Watts of Chapin, South Carolina; grandchildren and spouses, Mary Beth (Jeremy) Hoopes of Buford, Georgia and Ashley (Tim) Cox of Decatur, Georgia; great-grandchildren, Henry Hoopes and Trent Cox; Pat’s children, Donna (Eddie) McHenry, Brad (Melissa) Stewart, Jan (Ronnie) Garrett; Pat’s grandchildren, great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. A number of nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, May 11, in the Pleasant Grove Chapel of Julian Peeples Funeral Home, 2801 Cleveland Hwy, Dalton, GA 30721 with Dr. Jimmy Cole and Rev. Billy Willis officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 12 p.m. until the service hour at 2 p.m.
Mr. Cole will be laid to rest at Whitfield Memorial Gardens.
The family would like to thank Pleasant Valley Personal Care Home and Hamilton Medical Center for the love, care and compassion shown to Mr. Cole.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to Harmony Baptist Church, 1002 Rollins Ketchum Road, Dalton, Georgia or to the Peeples Cancer Institute at 1215 Memorial Drive, Dalton, Georgia.
