Decorated World War 2 Army Veteran Hershel Thomas Hicks passed away May 10, 2022 just shy of his 99th birthday.

Born in Indiana May 15, 1923, he was one of eight children. His wife of over 70 years, Mildred Green Hicks, passed away from a lengthy battle with cancer in 2018.

Mr. Hicks worked from his youth with the CCC as well as Bradley County Road Department, Lonas Construction and Bradley County Health Department as well as Magic Chef.

Hershel and Mildred had three children, Larry Hicks (Shannon), Sandra Hughes (Bill), Jonny Hicks (Cindy); six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews.

A Remembrance of Life Service will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at Jim Rush Funeral and Cremation Services Wildwood Ave. Chapel. The interment with Military Honors will follow at Boanerges Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Monday from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the funeral home.
