Life's Passion Was Toy Poodles

Mary Claire Careathers, of Hixson, Tennessee, peacefully passed away at her residence on May 18, 2022.

 

Mary was born on Jan. 30, 1947, in Decatur, Ga. to the late Eddie Lee and Mildred Martin. 

 

She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Olin “Ben” Careathers, her daughter, Cheryl Samples of Soddy Daisy, her son, James Careathers of Goodyear, Az., and grandchildren, Alec and Anna Samples of Cleveland, Tn., and Rachel (Mike) Mendel of Denver, Co.

 

Mary loved her family and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Her life’s passion was toy poodles and she spent almost 50 years loving and improving the breed and providing joy to poodle owners all around the world.  She was proud of her poodles and was awarded the American Kennel Club Merit Breeder award. She had a big heart for all animals and passed that love and compassion to her children and grandchildren.
