Nic Hann has been announced as he new head volleyball coach at Gordon Lee High School in Chickamauga, Ga. Hann, formally of Calhoun High School, takes over with the 2022 season.
Originally from Cordova, Ala., Mr. Hann began his coaching and teaching career at Coosa High School in 2011, where he served as the JV coach for the inaugural year of the program.. After two years as the JV coach, and became the head varsity coach in 2013.
In seven years as the head coach, his teams advanced to the Sweet 16 (2013), Elite 8 (2014, 2015), State Runner-Up (2016), and three consecutive GHSA State Titles (2017, 2018, 2019).
During this time, his teams won six consecutive region championships.
He moved to Calhoun High in 2020, leading the team to a Sweet 16 finish. In 2021, the Lady Yellow Jackets advanced to the Class 5A state playoffs.
According to Gordon Lee athletic director Thomas Gray, “We are extremely excited about having Nic come in and being able to lead our volleyball program. He comes in with a great deal of knowledge for the game and past successes that will help continue the past successes of our volleyball program.”
In the classroom, he has taught English in all grade levels, including AP, honors, and inclusion classes. He was the 2018-2019 Coosa High Teacher of the Year.
Hann is a two time Georgia Athletic Association Coach of the Year and was the 2018 American Volleyball Coaches Association Thirty Under 30 Award Recipient. And is a board member of the Georgia Volleyball Coaches Association, as well as having over 200 career wins.
Coach Hann has also coached club volleyball for Tsunami Volleyball club for six years.
He is married to Marissa (Gordon Lee Class of ‘07). They have a four-year-old son, Eli. Hann is a 2011 graduate of Shorter College in Rome.
