Here's a suggestion for all the mayor and police chief bashers: Draw up your own plan of action to curb violence in the city. Present it to both the mayor and chief of police and see how it floats.
You're beginning early this time around, but the same groupies start the same old campaign to vilify anyone elected or hired in the city you don't like and proceed on a campaign to get rid of them. You went after Chief Jimmy Dotson because he was too smart for you. You've gone after any police chief who sought to hold bad cops accountable. You've gone on the attack against former mayors you didn't like. You're a cold, calculating bunch. Many of us have come to know how you operate, if only behind the scenes.
You don't want intelligent people who do their jobs. Individuals who have integrity and refuse to do your biddings. You want the ones who are selective, willing to go dark and follow your orders.
So, knock yourselves out. Put on your thinking caps. Brainstorm instead of using your collective efforts to denigrate and vilify the mayor and police chief. Use all that groupie energy you have to make decent, humane changes that benefits everyone and not just a select few.
