Charles "Charlie" Fox, 83, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, passed away on June 5, 2022.

Charlie was born in Port Huron, Michigan to Gladys (Limbach) and Charles Fox. He graduated from Port Huron High School where he served as president of his senior class. He attended the University of Michigan, receiving a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1961 and later a master’s degree in 1969. Charlie and his college sweetheart, Carolyn Preish Fox, were happily married for over 62 years. Living in Signal Mountain since 1976, Charlie pursued an active career as a professional engineer with US Stove, Lupton Engineering, and then over 15 years with Brock Candy (later Brach and Brock Confections). Throughout his career, Charlie was always grateful for the opportunities he was given by such leaders as Fred Lupton, Pat Brock, and Mike Pfeiffer. He was an active member of the Chattanooga Engineer’s Club and several trade and professional organizations. In his private life he was active in the Boy Scouts while his son was scouting age, the Signal Mountain Tennis Club, camping and family travel. After retiring, he and Carolyn spent much of their time traveling the country in an RV as well as spending winters in Fort Myers, Fl. It was there that he became active in the sport of Pickleball and later brought that interest home to help form a club in Signal Mountain. He also enjoyed such volunteer activities as working with Habitat for Humanity, serving as a docent at the Tennessee Aquarium and volunteering with the Urban League’s Volunteer Income Tax Preparer program.

Charlie is survived by his wife, Carolyn; son, Gregory (Claire Cabe); daughter, Sara Bell; and his sister, Susan Stevenson (Michael Dorney).  Also surviving are his grandchildren, Cheyenne Bell, Avery Hoy, Bailey Bell, Lauren Cabe; great-grandson, Timothy Hoy; nieces, Laura Hargitt (Dana), Nicole Allen; nephews, Richard Fox (Angie), and Stephen Fox (Kelly).

A Celebration of Life may be held at a later date. Donations in his memory may be made to the CHI Memorial Cancer Center Support Group.

Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory, and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson, Tn. 37343.
