Mary Fox
Mary Estelle Gray Fox went home to be with Jesus on Tuesday, June 7, 2022.

She will be missed by her two surviving children, Mary Estelle (Don Hamill) and Steve Ellison Fox (Monequa), both of Chattanooga.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Charles Ellison, who died on May 25, 2003. Also preceding her in death was her precious grandson, Jeffrey Donald Hamill who died in 1982 and her daughter, Ann Elizabeth who died in 2018.

Besides her children, she leaves behind grandchildren whom she loved very much. Some called her Grandma and others called her Mema. She referred to her only granddaughter, Amy Marie Beasley (Keith), as “Mema’s Little Angel”. Grandsons are Tyler Charles Fox (Alisha); Brian Daniel Hamill (Natasha); Jason Charles Hamill (Cherish). Monequa’s daughter, Alex Moyers, and son Bartley Moyers (Kimberlin) were also loved dearly. Her grandchildren made her proud.

She was blessed with eight great-grandchildren whom she adored.  Alex Benjamin and Andrew Charles Beasley, Ivana Elise and Daniel Nikola Hamill, and Adelaide Elizabeth, Charlie Newell and Ellie Rae Hamill, and Maisie Grace Moyers.

Mother grew up in North Chattanooga and attended Normal Park Elementary, Northside Jr. High School, and Chattanooga High School. She was a member of Northside Presbyterian Church. She dedicated her life to being the best caregiver God could have created by raising her children, caring for her mother, Lillian Estelle, her husband, Charles, after his stroke, and their daughter, Ann.

In Mothers’ memory, in lieu of flowers, consider doing an Act of Kindness for someone who needs a helping hand, a listening ear, a gentle touch or a simple smile.

And Jesus said, “Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to Me.” Matthew 25:40

Visitation will be at Chattanooga Funeral Home, North Chapel, on Friday, June 10, from 12:30-2:30 p.m., followed by a service at 2:30 p.m. on Friday.

Please share your thoughts and memories at www.chattanooganorthchapel.com.

Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory & Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson, Tn. 37343.
