First Place CFC Returns To Finley Stadium Saturday

  • Wednesday, August 3, 2022
Chattanooga FC returns to league action to take on Maryland Bobcats on Saturday, August 6 at Finley Stadium. The match is scheduled to kick off at 7:30 p.m. EDT.

CFC is coming off a thrilling game-winning goal late in the game to claim the Independent Cup southeast championship on July 23.

Now full focus is on finishing the second half of the season the way it did the first half. Despite coming from the league’s smallest market, Chattanooga’s professional soccer team sits in first place in the National Independent Soccer Association (NISA) Eastern Conference standings with 8 wins, 3 draws, and just one loss in league play.

Chattanooga FC is on a 10-game unbeaten streak dating back to April 30.

"Generally I think we're in a good spot," said CFC Head Coach Rod Underwood.
"It's about managing it and managing the expectations. It's much simpler playing in the front than chasing. We have to kind of work on that mindset and keep that focus. Keep short-term goals and long-term goals about what we ultimately want to accomplish.”

CFC forward Markus Naglestad added another goal to his explosive season last weekend. The Norwegian striker leads the league with 14 goals, more than double the next highest goal-scorer.

Saturday’s opponent, Maryland Bobcats from the Washington DC area, is currently in third place in the Eastern Conference. CFC has played Maryland twice this season, earning a 2-1 victory on the road in May after a 1-1 draw on March 26 in the season opener in Chattanooga.

Tickets are on sale now at CFCTIX.com. Fans can save 10% by purchasing tickets in advance, before game day.
