Howard Joseph "Joe" Bolden, Sr.
Howard Joseph Bolden, Sr., 73, passed away on August 31, 2022, in Chattanooga.
Howard was born on Sept. 15, 1948, in Memphis, Tn., to the late Mary Daniel and the late Joe Dan Miller. He was a veteran of the United States Army. Having completed basic training in Fort Benning, GA, he went through paratrooper school then departed to Germany. He lived there for a year, then he was deployed to Vietnam. While serving his tour of duty in Vietnam, he was injured three times. He received the Purple Heart for his courageous military service.
Howard was predeceased by his brothers, Sam, Kenneth, Don, Ray, and Jimmy; his sisters, Mary Frances and Jeana; his spouse, Julie Beasley.
Howard is survived by his sons, Howard Bolden, Jr., and Anthony Bentley; daughters, Carla Bentley(caregiver), Yaphett Walton, and Latoya of Memphis; grandchildren, Asha (Arsenial) Rowland, Ashley Perrymond, Gweniqua Jacobs, Anthony Bently, Jr., Adrian Bentley, Sr., Tamika Evans, Quenton Bolden, Asia Bolden, Charde Covington, Shalinque Bolden, Shelby Bolden, Heaven Roush, and Quedarrius Cotton; great-grandchildren, Amyah Green, Amai Green, Makiyah Bolden, Vanna Bolden all of Memphis, Alayah Rowland, Anahla Collins, Maurianna Manghane, Kennedi Rowland, Bridgett Evans, Lilly Roush, Jakayla Bentley, Azyila Bentley, Chosen Bentley, Adrian Bentley, Jr., Anthony Bentley, III, Aubrey Bentley, Aaron Bentley, Hadad Jacobs, Hadassah Jacobs, all of Chattanooga; special friend, Cynthia White; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family, and friends.
Public viewing will be held on Thursday, Sept. 15, from 11:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. followed by a 12:30 p.m. funeral service in the chapel of the John P Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., 423 622-9995.
Interment will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery. Gate time is 2 p.m.
