The Chattanooga women’s soccer team will host The Citadel Sunday afternoon at the UTC Sports Complex in the second game of the Southern Conference slate. Both teams enjoyed wins on the opening day of league play.

Chattanooga holds a 13-6-1 advantage all-time against the Bulldogs. Since the arrival of head coach Gavin McKinney, UTC is 6-1 against The Citadel including a six-game winning streak.
In Chattanooga, the Mocs hold a 7-3-1 advantage.
The Mocs came away with a 1-0 victory over Mercer in the Southern Conference opener for both teams. Mackenzie Smith scored the lone goal off a corner kick in the closing seconds of the opening half. UTC is 3-3-2 overall and 2-1-1 at home. The Mocs average 1.13 goals per game with nine on the year and 10.1 shots per game. Clarissa Salinas leads the team in scoring and is tied with Mackenzie Smith on goals scored and Caroline Richvalsky for assists. Keeper Caroline Ekern has made six starts in goal with a 3-1-2 overall mark. Her lone loss was to No. 11 Alabama.
The Bulldogs came away with a 1-0 victory Friday in the SoCon opener at Samford. The Citadel’s goal came in the 71st minute against the defending Southern Conference Champions. The Bulldogs have outshot their opponents 23-8 and recorded wins over UNC Asheville, USC Upstate, Presbyterian, Charleston Southern and South Carolina State, four by shutout. Eight player have multiple goals lead by Suzuka Yosue and Maggie Melogy with three each. Yosue has a team-best six assists and leads the team with 12 points. The Citadel has put four different keepers in the net. They have combined for a 0.89 goals against average and 0.814 saves percentage with 35 through nine matches.
